CYCLING SHIMANAMI 2026 Setouchi Shimanami Kaido International Cycling Event
It’s second time to join this cycling event in Shimanami Kaido, selected Yumeshima 75 Course (G). The course was started from Imabari and ended at Yugeshima. Detail is here.
Last time, I joined an E course which started from the same Imabari IC to Innanoshima. Also never been in Yumeshima Kaido, so this time, I choose this G course to ride on new path, including crossing by ferry.
Since a typhoon was closing to Japan island, so weather forecast was not good, so all of the attendees were worried about the go or no-go decision by the organizer. With luck, the morning got sunlight at the meetup point. Event was started from 8:00 as planned.
But passed a half of highway, faced heavy rain, getting cold. So I didn’t well remember the beautiful island view from the highway…. concentrated to ride to avoid slip on wet road. Somehow reached to goal on Yugejima and got finisher medal!

Usually this event had been arranged on a bi-yearly basis. But Shimanami Kaido will be 30 years anniversary in 2029. So next event would be at 3 years later. Looking forward to join again more memorial event.
